The world economy continues its process of instability, while financial capital continues to expand its economic and political power, fueled by the Russia-Ukraine war. This conflict that in turn affects the redesign of a multipolar world, but without defined and agreed axes that mitigate the various difficulties faced by societies and in them the most vulnerable social sectors. Almost 200 days since the beginning of the armed conflict, the situation seems to have entered into a negative inertia, since forces have accumulated from contrary positions where everyone will lose, and only a handful of corporations and large global investors increase an already excessive power.

In this perspective, in this issue of www.olafinanciera.unam.mx, we insist on the importance and urgency of a mechanism under the objectives of the Tobin tax that can limit the maelstrom in which the secrecy of the international financial system, associated with large corporations, has been pushing the world of the real economy. In the same perspective, the effects of financialization in Latin America are addressed from different perspectives, countries and issues.

On the other hand, the editorial board of www.olafinanciera.unam.mx, congratulates our colleague and friend, Dr. Alicia Girón, who has been distinguished with the appointment of Emeritus Researcher of the UNAM. In addition to all the recognized merits of her academic works, Alicia Girón is a promoter and founder of this journal, along with Dr. Eugenia Correa and Mtra. Patricia Rodríguez. For the journal, a priority has been to make public the issues related to finance and its interrelations with the economic, political and social world, which national and international social scientists have addressed in the already 43 issues of the journal. To this congratulation of the Editorial Board, we can surely add those of many other colleagues and friends.
